That's My Dog!

(Permanent Link)
No kidding. My dog, Diamond, looks exactly like that (only about twice the size) and is absolutely a canine genius. I can talk to her using normal speech and she understands and responds perfectly. I can give her tasks to do, such as putting away her toys or bringing me a specific toy from another room and she does them reliably because she understands every word I say. I thought about training her as a rescue dog since she provably knows how to use simple tools to solve problems(using one object to pick up, reach, stabilize, or move another) and vector physics (balance points, whether a leaning structure is stable, whether moving one object will cause another to fall, and if so, which way it will fall). I didn't teach her any of those things, she figured them out on her own. She also can walk extended distances on her hind legs, but I don't encourage this because of her size (65 lbs.). I don't treat her like a dog or a child...she's a person.

I Always Talk to my Dogs as Humans

(Permanent Link)
I have a few dogs now and the inside dog I got for the wife is a mini poodle.

She knows about 50 commands and even will stop scratching and put her head down if the wife tells her to.

She does let out a big sigh and gives the wife a look first, but she complies.

My cat will come to me when I call her and rollover for me to rub her belly to so long as no one is watching...
