The wife will use her last rehab day up tomorrow and will be coming home and I got her little side table stained and varnished this afternoon so I can install it in the morning.

I found an antique looking ADA approved grab bar with a dark finish that I'll attach to the top and I have the back predrilled so I can attach it to the wall with lag bolts plus it weighs about 70 pounds so it will be something very stable for her to hold on to.

The top is a piece of Mahogany I think, left over from the side board I used for the master bath vanity and the sides are Oak plywood with trim made from a one inch thick piece of red oak I got from one of the houses we remodeled ten years ago or so. I got some sliders and made a deep drawer at the top and cut a hole in the side to mount the intercom and a light switch that will go to an outlet on the back so she can turn the table lamp on without having to sit all the way up.

How did you make it heavy enough so it does not move when your wife uses it to pull herself up?
Looks fantastic with the nice detailing.
