Mar. 30th, 2009 @ 07:36 am I'm Standing on a Stage
My mind holds the key and the shapes fill my head.

I'll never stop movin and I can take what I'm given.

I'd trade places with my wife in a moment.

Nice.

I've never seen that movie, Once Upon a Time in the West. Have to go see it, sometime.

Each of you has a task and a timeline. My husband watched his previous wife die of lymphoma; she died at home with him...he would have traded, too. Life goes on for some of us, regardless. Sometimes all we can do is take what we are given. Hugs to both of you.

Tell the people in your life that are close how you feel about them.

The wreck should have killed me twice and more than one doctor has used the word miracle when they see me walking and talking.

When I first opened my eyes in the hospital I knew how bad I was and I asked for enough time to outlive her and complete the house so she had a safe place for when this happened and didn't go bankrupt trying to pay contractors to finish what I had started.

Twenty minutes later I got to my feet and walked and never stopped and I've been given that time plus some.

On top of everything else she got a small nick on her knee during the last hospital stay that exposed the artificial knee joint and her skin is paper thin so it couldn't be stitched. They had hoped granulation would heal it over so I change the dressing twice a day and I'm very good at wound care but it keeps getting bigger so I take her to see a surgeon this afternoon.

RA tears up your immune system like someone with AIDS and is extremely painful and incurable so the caregivers and I keep her as comfortable as possible.

I have really excellent caregivers that do everything like cooking and cleaning and writing me notes so I don't blink and forget to do something which is more than what a normal caregiver's tasks usually entail and I am so thankful for them.
